Job description

The opportunity

Within EY’s Assurance practice, we have a Centre of Excellence (COE) located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are currently seeking an experienced manager to join our growing team to lead our Independence team. As leader of the Independence team, this individual will liaise directly with client-serving teams, ensure high quality deliverables and coordinate timing and execution of the deliverables, in addition to becoming proficient in technical subject matter.

Your key responsibilities

  • demonstrate technical knowledge in Canadian, SEC, PCAOB and IESBA auditor independence rules and EY Global and country independence policies to support client-serving teams,
  • assess, analyze and evaluate whether, based on the applicable policies, EY is independent of the entity under audit,
  • ensure high quality in client service through quality oversight initiatives and on-the-job coaching,
  • coordinate timing and execution of deliverables to client-serving teams,
  • develop and deliver independence-related foundational and on-going developmental training,
  • liaise between various teams, as needed,
  • other duties as assigned

To qualify for the role, candidates must have

  • College and/or University degree/diploma in Business
  • CPA designation preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in a professional services firm, or equivalent, with at least 2 years of managerial experience
  • Excellent project management skills
