Job description

Your Opportunity:

Step Into Rural Leadership. Experience Something New. Discover Drayton Valley. This temporary Site Manager opportunity at Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre offers a compelling blend of professional growth and lifestyle balance. Working Monday to Friday, with participation in a Manager On Call rotation, this role provides hands on leadership experience within a supportive, close knit healthcare team where your contributions are visible and valued. As a regional hospital serving a strong and connected community in central Alberta, approximately 130 km southwest of Edmonton, the site offers meaningful work, collaborative relationships, and an everyday quality of life advantage: no long commutes, no traffic congestion, and more time back in your day. Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre includes a 30 bed acute medical/surgical unit, a 24/7 Emergency Department, and endoscopic services, and provides an in depth site orientation to support success in this unique rural environment. In contrast to large urban centres, rural leadership offers broader scope, closer collaboration, and the opportunity to be actively involved across operational, clinical, and community priorities, providing a different and highly valuable leadership experience than is often possible in a big city setting. Beyond the workday, Drayton Valley offers the space to truly recharge. You can spend your workweek leading with purpose, and your weekends enjoying what the community does best: exploring nearby rivers and trail systems, getting outdoors in local parks and surrounding natural areas, joining community events, or simply slowing down. With a lower cost of living than a big-city, your dollar goes further here, supporting a lifestyle that balances meaningful work with affordability, simplicity, and time back for what matters most. Apply today.

Description:

As the Site Manager, you will provide effective leadership to an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to delivering high quality, patient centred care to Albertans. In this role, you will make key operational and clinical decisions, contribute to the achievement of site priorities, and provide oversight for Acute Care, the Emergency Department, and the Endoscopy program. You will build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, lead change management initiatives, foster team development and collaboration, and coordinate staffing and clinical operations in alignment with direction from the Director. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective operational framework that supports safe, efficient, and high quality patient and resident care services. Core responsibilities include providing day to day leadership to staff, managing patient assignments, conducting rounds, scheduling and coordinating staff resources, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration, addressing operational and clinical concerns, and supporting effective discharge planning. In addition, you will oversee budget implementation and monitoring, risk management, quality assurance, and utilization activities. Your leadership will align with and support the AHS vision, mission, and business plan, while fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure consistent, high quality, patient and family centered care.

Required Qualifications: Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead and manage change while developing innovative solutions to complex and diverse issues within a healthcare environment. They will bring proven experience managing diverse human, financial, and physical resources, along with strong organizational skills, a client focused orientation, and a commitment to delivering high quality services. Effective collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals is essential, supported by excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong capacity for problem solving. The role requires comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching others, and the ability to inspire confidence and build strong teams. The successful candidate will also foster productive relationships that enhance the effectiveness of the site(s) and programs managed, demonstrate knowledge of collective agreements and experience working within a unionized workforce, and exercise discretion when handling sensitive situations, data, and personnel matters. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to a dynamic and successful healthcare team are key to success in this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of progressive management experience in a healthcare environment, ideally within a large, diverse, and unionized organization, with demonstrated HR experience. They will have a proven ability to lead and mentor teams, navigate complex system level challenges, and possess an understanding of rural Acute Care, Emergency, and Surgical Services. Experience with Connect Care or a similar clinical system is considered an asset.
