Our clientssuccessful planning and rural teams are now looking to expand byappointing an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to work alongside theirexisting Surveyors Planners and Architecturalstaff.

Theyare looking to appoint a MCIEEM qualified Ecologist with at least 3years experience to work between their Planning and Rural teams.

The successful candidate is likely to have significant experiencein conducting ecological surveys preparing reports to supportplanning applications and enhancements opportunities to delivervarious levels of biodiversity net gain.

The Ecologist will need tobe familiar with the Natural England Biodiversity Metric 4.0 and beable to identify the optimum enhancement measures for sites such asagricultural land where there are significant biodiversityopportunities which can be used to offset the impact ofdevelopments which cannot deliver a net gain onsite.

Company : Mulit officeindependent

Hours : Mon Fri 9am5.30pm

Longerhours may be required outside working hours to accommodate surveyrequirements.

Tasks

  • Undertakeecological surveys and prepare associated reports includingPreliminary Ecological Appraisals various protected species surveys
  • EcologicalImpact Assessments Biodiversity Net Gaincalculations.
  • Adviseproject teams on ecological legislation policy andguidance.
  • Mitigationand enhancement measures forprojects.
  • Manageand supervise subcontractors whereappropriate.
  • Maintainuptodate knowledge of ecological issues legislation and bestpractice
  • Torepresent clients as a professional witness whenrequired
  • Toliaise with Natural England Local Authority Ecologist or appointedconsultants

Requirements

  • Adegree in Ecology or a relatedfield
  • MembershipofCIEEM
  • Goodknowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation policy andguidance
  • Atleast 3 years of working experience in ecologicalpractice.
  • Experienceof preparing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals protected speciessurveys Ecological ImpactAssessments
  • Abilityto write clear and concise letters andreports
  • Communicateeffectively and diplomatically with clients other staff andprofessionals
  • Manageworkload and priorities and meetdeadlines
  • Awarenessof health andsafety
  • Abilityto work on own initiative with minimalsupervision
  • Fulldriving license and access tocar
