Job description

Under moderate supervision and in collaboration with a team, the Senior Analyst performs analyses on finished product samples using analytical methods, techniques and equipment according to pre-established specifications. Ensures full compliance with Good Laboratory Practice guidelines. Collaborates in the implementation of action plans to investigate any discrepancies between the targeted result and that obtained. Is responsible for certain related tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES :

  • Physical testing;
  • Physical-chemical testing;
  • Qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis;
  • Ensure the use of current versions of specifications and methods;
  • Program and operate current data acquisition systems;
  • Share observations with immediate supervisor to suggest ideas for improvement;
  • Report any discrepancies between targeted and achieved results;
  • Participate in the continuous improvement program using available tools;
  • Complex analyses : unstable solutions, refractive index detection, derivatization, difficult extractions;
  • Complex techniques : UPLC, Conductivity Detector (Dionex)
  • Gas chromatography
  • Participate in drafting or comment on standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Under the supervisor's responsibility, assist and train analysts on specific techniques
  • Collaborate in the implementation of action plans to investigate any discrepancies between targeted and actual results
  • Occasionally review raw data and laboratory notebooks or equivalent
  • Ensure that requirements of related tasks are met
  • Act as support in the event of analytical problems
  • Write analytical and scientific documents

Actively participate in the resolution of governmental requests

  • Ensure full compliance with Good Laboratory Practice guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards

  • Proficiency in the use of Empower II (Waters), LIMS (Labware) and Microsoft World and Excel software;
  • Ability to analyze problems;

  • Teaching skills;
  • Innovative and creative skills;
  • Resourcefulness and stress resistance;
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and government guidelines;
  • College diploma (DEC) or Bachelor's degree (BAC) in chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry / biology techniques.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry : an asset.
