APPRENTICESHIP (12 MONTH TERM)

Activity sector : Pulp and Paper

Site : Kamloops

Wage : $39.04

Schedule : Compressed Work Week (9-hour dayshifts, every other Friday off)

Start Date : Flexible based on educational schedule

YOUR ROLE

This apprenticeship opportunity is for a Skilled Trades BC registered apprentice in one of the following trades to gain a year of industrial work experience in a Kraft Pulp Mill :

üHeavy Duty Mechanic üMillwright üPipefitter üElectrician üInstrument Mechanic üHVAC Mechanic

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor, Apprentices work closely with Red Seal tradespeople to gain knowledge in their trade and support maintenance activities throughout the Mill. The successful candidate will work well within a team of trades people, can follow direction, is willing to learn, is open to feedback and has a positive attitude.

üSafety focused;

üWillingness to learn;

üAbility to follow direction and is open to constructive criticism;

üExcellent verbal and written commination skills;

üAbility to manage time and multi-task to accomplish a variety of assignments with conflicting priorities and deadlines;

üPositive attitude with the ability to collaborate well with others;

üStrong problem solving & analytical skills, and excellent judgment;

üProven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands;

üDetail oriented.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

üSkilled Trades BC registered apprentice;

üFoundations completed in Heavy Duty Mechanics, Millwright, Pipefitter, Electrical, Instrument Mechanics or HVAC;

üStrong mechanical aptitude;

üPrevious experience working in a safety sensitive work environment is an asset;

üStrong computer system aptitude and experience working with various types of software including Microsoft Office Suite is an asset.
