Farm Manager Position – Southern Ontario Position Overview Our family is seeking an experienced and hands-on farm manager to oversee all aspects of a uniquely beautiful property situated in Southern Ontario. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for farming and the outdoors, offering the convenience of proximity to a major city as well as a selection of charming small Ontario towns. The successful candidate will have the chance to utilize and further develop their management skills by overseeing the daily operations of a property that covers over three hundred acres and produces tender fruit and vineyards. Role Summary As the farm manager, you will be responsible for the comprehensive supervision of farm operations. This includes managing a team of experienced staff and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements stipulated by the Ontario Employment Standards Act. The position also involves maintaining regular communication and feedback with the property owner, fostering a collaborative working relationship. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of farm operations, including pruning, cultivation, canopy management, and harvest.
- Oversee spray management and irrigation systems to optimise crop production.
- Supervise the fleet of farm equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and operation.
- Monitor and enforce all safety requirements, maintaining strict adherence to the Employment Standards Act.
- Lead, manage, and train staff, encouraging teamwork and skill development.
- Implement quality management procedures to uphold high standards across all farm activities.
- Coordinate logistics to support efficient farm operations.
- University degree or college diploma in agriculture, alongside relevant experience.
- Spanish fluency is a definite asset, or a willingness to learn basic Spanish phrases.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Strong understanding of farm management principles and best practices.
- Excellent computer skills and analytical abilities.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and a proven work ethic.
- Strong people management and team leadership capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
