Manitoba Trait and Pipeline Delivery is an organization under the Crop Science Division that specialized in canola breeding and seed processing.
Regular maintenance of building facilities, growth rooms, and machinery is essential to ensure smooth operation of canola seed production.
Thus, scheduled preventative maintenance and timely repairs helps prevent unexpected breakdowns ensuring maximum operation efficiency and quality of products.
The maintenance assistant will play a critical role in assisting the maintenance technician in the regular inspections and repairs of the facilities and equipment across three sites (SmartPark, Berry St. and Carman).
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assist the onsite Maintenance Technician to inspect and clean refrigeration condenser units.
- Assist the onsite Maintenance Technician to inspect and clean HVAC equipment.
- Assist the onsite Maintenance Technician to inspect and clean mechanical equipment.
- Report all findings to the onsite Maintenance Technician.
- Minor mechanical repairs / maintenance as assigned.
- Minor building repairs / maintenance as assigned.
- Minor plumbing repairs / maintenance as assigned.
- Comply with all applicable dangerous or hazardous work permits / procedures as necessary.
- All other maintenance / mechanical duties as assigned.
- Create and promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Primary responsibility is to help the maintenance technician in inspecting, cleaning, repairs and maintenance of facilities, equipment, growth chambers and other mechanical machineries at three sites (SmartPark, Berry St and Carman).
REQUIREMENTS / PREFERENCES :
- High school diploma or GED required
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude is required
- Previous experience is considered an asset, but not a requirement
- Certifications and / or trade licenses will be considered and asset, but not required
- Valid driver s license in good standing
- Must be able to lift and / or move up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to meet overtime demands if necessary
