Commercial Litigation Lawyer for full service law firm client, North York.

Target Compensation: From $175,000 to $200,000 per annum, with some flexibility according to experience, plus comprehensive benefits.
Work Location: Hybrid - combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client's North York office, with free parking provided. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business need.
Responsibilities Summary: Handle commercial litigation files from inception to resolution, including drafting, conducting examinations, arguing motions, participating in dispute resolution, mediations and arbitrations, and appearing at trial.
- Represent clients in commercial disputes, including contractual disagreements, shareholder disputes, construction claims, professional liability, debt recovery, and real property litigation.
- Represent clients in both secured and unsecured debt collection matters. Assist with receiverships and insolvency matters, and manage all aspects of bankruptcy matters from filing through discharge.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and case analyses.
- Provide strategic legal advice and risk assessments to corporate and individual clients.
- Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, factums, and other legal documents.
- Negotiate settlements.
- Work collaboratively with senior counsel, legal assistants, and clerks.
- Additional representation and advisory responsibilities as required.
Qualifications: Education: JD/LLB from a recognized law school.
Professional Credentials: Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
Preferred Work Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial litigation, with additional focus on insolvency law and debt collection,
Preferred Sector Experience: Law firm experience required.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Proficiency with legal case management, legal billings, legal research, and legal documents management applications.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
