In compliance with Board policy, procedures, standard operating practices, and applicable legislation, responsible for the repairs / replacement and maintenance of buildings and components within his / her restricted trade.

Person must have a valid 309A Maintenance and Construction trade license. Please note : voice, video and data communications architecture and copper cabling experience will be considered an asset for this position.

Summer Hours Program (currently in effect) (4 Day work weeks for Full time permanent employees in July / August) Current Allowance Rates : Additional $.

48 per hour for applicable approved trade licenses Additional $.99 per hour for using an applicable approved trade license.

Work Location : York Region District School Board, Plant Services (1260 Gorham Street, Newmarket, Ontario L3Y 8W4 Canada)Work Schedule : Current shifts are days - subject to changeMajor Responsibilities : To respond to R&Rs as assigned and as it relates to the position / trade through the work order management system.

To repair, replace and maintain buildings and components as it relates to the position / trade. To ensure components are repaired and installed in accordance with local codes and standards.

To order and maintain an adequate stock of replacement parts and materials. To use, maintain, and arrange for repairs of equipment including hand tools, power equipment, and vehicles.

To complete logs, as required (e.g. asbestos). To be able to work independently and with other maintenance staff as a team.

To inform the supervisor of any issues with suppliers or contractors performing work in buildings. To inform the supervisor of any issues with components and when components should be replaced.

To inform the supervisor on new products and equipment. To assist supervisor with preparation of estimates for labour and material costs.

To purchase fuel and / or parts and materials using Board approved methods. To perform work on ladders and elevator platforms.

To carry and lift heavy objects. To attend meetings, as required. To attend training and professional development sessions, as required.

To provide training to Apprentices, as required. To maintain a clean and safe work environment. To portray a positive public image, and liaise as necessary, with staff, students, parents, contractors and the general public.

To perform other duties as assigned. Line of Responsibility : Responsible to the Supervisor of Maintenance and the Associate Manager Maintenance (Shops) or the Assistant Manager of Operations.

Education, Experience and Qualifications : A Secondary School Graduation Diploma Trade license required - 309A Maintenance and Construction.

Minimum five years experience as it relates to the position is required. General aptitude in building maintenance as it relates to the position / trade is required.

Knowledge of codes and regulations as it relates to the position / trade is required. Valid 'G' driver's license and clean driver's abstract is required.

Effective interpersonal skills are required. Strong organization skills are required.
