As part of our Air Emissions Management team, you will play a key role in supporting corporate air emissions compliance programs and helping ensure Cenovus remains aligned with evolving government requirements. This role involves working closely with multiple internal teams, collecting and analyzing emissions data, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

What you’ll do

Support ongoing corporate air emissions compliance programs, including :

NOx MSAPR compliance (Boilers / Heaters & Reciprocating Engines)

Fugitive Emissions Management Programs (FEMP & alt‑FEMP)

Benzene, Methane, and other regulated air pollutant programs

Monthly and annual air emissions reporting to regulatory bodies

Communicate regulatory updates across Canadian business units and help develop effective compliance strategies.

Collaborate with operations, engineering, regulatory, and reporting teams to gather accurate data and ensure alignment with compliance requirements.

Assist with technical projects related to emissions compliance, such as equipment upgrades, testing programs, and process improvements.

Maintain emissions records, support reporting using emissions software tools, and coordinate glycol dehydrator compliance tasks.

Provide oversight for fugitive emissions programs, prepare government submissions, and engage with industry peers on regulatory matters.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications :

Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)

Available to begin work in September 2026

A strong communicator who can work with multiple stakeholders across different functions.

A self‑starter who takes initiative and is eager to learn.

Adaptable and agile - the air emissions regulatory space is evolving quickly, and the ability to adjust to changing requirements is essential.

Detail‑oriented, especially when working with large datasets and compliance documentation.

Comfortable navigating uncertainty, asking questions, and actively contributing to solutions.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

Experience with emissions aggregation tools or data analytics platforms (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI) is an asset.

Strong analytical skills and an interest in environmental regulatory compliance.

Education

Must be enrolled in an Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Data Analytics or Chemistry Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term

Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered

New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
