Role Overview

As our firm continues to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Law Clerk to join our Toronto team. This is a critical support role focused on assisting lawyers with legal documentation, client communication, and file management. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting a litigation-focused legal practice, ideally with experience in family law. A strong understanding of court processes, deadlines, and file management is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, draft, and revise legal documents, including but not limited to Applications, Separation Agreements, Parenting Plans, Pleadings, Affidavits, Financial Statements, Net Family Property Statements, and Conference Briefs.
• Manage file opening and closing procedures in accordance with firm protocols and LSO requirements.
• Maintain and organize client files—both electronic and hard copy—ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Act as a key liaison between the legal team and clients, opposing counsel, and external experts.
• Schedule meetings, court dates, deadlines, and maintain the calendar for assigned lawyers.
• Monitor file progress and ensure all internal and court deadlines are met.
• Docket time accurately and maintain billing records using Clio.
• Support the legal team with other administrative and litigation-related tasks as required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Law Clerk supporting a litigation practice (family law experience is a strong asset).
• ILCO certification or LSO-approved paralegal license is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with the Family Law Rules, court processes, and legal documentation.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with a track record of accuracy and follow-through.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort handling sensitive client communications.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
• High proficiency with legal software (working knowledge with Clio and DivorceMate is an asset).
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable.
