Rebar Worker

Salary: $30-$35 depending on experience

Looking for reliable, hardworking Rebar workers with 2+ years experience to position and secure steel bars or mesh in concrete forms in order to reinforce concrete. Use a variety of fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, and hand tools. Includes rod busters. We prefer candidates who have prior experience or training in rebar.

Responsibilities:

• Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
• Position structural components. Space and fasten together rods in forms according to blueprints, using wire and pliers.
• Position and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms, using fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.
• Install metal structural components.
  
• Cut rods to required lengths, using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches.
• Place blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck when reinforcing floors.
• Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric, using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete.
• Bend steel rods with hand tools or rod-bending machines and weld them with arc-welding equipment.
• Review blueprints or specifications to determine work requirements, Install fencing or other barriers.
• Position safety or support equipment, weld metal components.
• Cut metal components for installation.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a relevant rebar/ironworker training program or apprenticeship or at least one year of rebar experience.
• Fall Protection Ticket
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and road.
  
• Able to use common hand tools and power tools.
  
• Troubleshooting and communication skills.
• PPE for rebar/iron working.
• Physical stamina for lifting equipment and working at various heights and in tight spaces.
