The Department of Nutritional Sciences is home to some of the world’s most accomplished, innovative, and reputable researchers.
We play a pivotal role in training experts in nutrition who go on to important positions in academia, health care, industry, and government.
The department also plays an important role in educating the public on nutrition issues. We offer MSc and PhD degree programs and a major in Nutritional Sciences at the undergraduate level.
We contribute to teaching in the professional Master of Public Health in (Nutrition and Dietetics) degree through the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
Our partnerships have allowed us to fully explore the relationships between nutrition and human health and disease and to influence clinical practice and public health programs.
As the Research Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting administrative and research initiatives for the Department of Nutritional Sciences.
Your strong organizational skills and commitment to accuracy will enable you to assist with day-to-day project activities such as implementing and executing project
Your responsibilities will include :
- Fostering positive relationships with project partners; keeping key stakeholders informed of concerns or setbacks
- Updating and maintaining database records and generating reports
- Proofing and posting adverts to recruit applicants, screening applicants, scheduling study participants
- Providing orientation to others on lab equipment, working procedures and practices
- Resolving issues in the course of test administration and escalating problems as required
Essential Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant research administration experience
- Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews and drafting correspondence
- Experience collecting, updating and managing database records
- Demonstrated experience providing administrative support, including scheduling meetings, drafting meeting materials and minute taking
- Experience providing orientation and assistance to peers on lab equipment, work procedures and practices
- Experience posting recruitment adverts and screening applicants
- Excellent knowledge of rules and procedural processes related to Personal Health information Act (PHIPA) and the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other software / data storage tools including tools such as : Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Research System
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities and projects with conflicting deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and high quality
- Ability to interpret requirements and procedures, utilize critical thinking, interpersonal and organizational skills

Please note that this position is a three-year term. Regular daytime schedule. Occasional weekend schedule.

USW Pay Band 07 $59,172. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $75,673. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation / Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
