Extendicare invites you to lead our long‑term care home at Red River Place, located in Selkirk, Manitoba. As Director of Care, you will champion a resident‑centered culture, ensuring high quality, safe, and compassionate care for all residents while fostering an engaging team environment.
Key Outcomes
Advocate for resident safety and continual quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the resident‑care team, ensuring collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
Oversee staff education, training, and professional development.
Manage financial stewardship of the care staff complement and nursing budget.
Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, licensing, accreditation, and employment standards.
Identify and address resident issues, manage clinical risks, and respond to critical incidents.
Maintain a customer‑service mindset, responding to feedback from residents, families, vendors, and staff with empathy.
Supervise resident assessment and care‑planning processes, ensuring personalized care plans.
Collaborate with the leadership team, residents, and families to optimize resident care.
Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident safety, wellness, and satisfaction.
Support home‑level strategic priorities, developing operational and staffing plans for resident care.
Engage vendors and community health partners for quality initiatives and training.
Uphold and promote Extendicare’s Mission, Vision, Values, ethics, morality, and integrity.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
Registered Nurse with unrestricted provincial license.
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role in long‑term care.
Working knowledge of long‑term care regulations, standards, and best practices.
Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Track record of implementing quality improvement initiatives with positive resident outcomes.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
