The Terminal Operator for TME will have to supervise all the products transfers by working with the Refinery, along with vessel’s staff and the contractors that will handle the vessels docking, connection and monitoring.
The Terminal Operator for TME will ensure proper operability and reliability of process equipment, the supply and delivery systems, as well as assurance of site security, environmental and business controls.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the safe operation of the terminal by maintaining awareness for personal safety and that of co- workers;
- Understand and apply the client Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and standards;
- Understand and recognize the hazards on the worksite;
- Work safely with the proper PPE, and address any hazardous situations immediately;
- Ensure the reliable operation of the terminal by regularly and carefully monitoring equipment conditions and Communicate with facility supervisor on any problems as they occur;
- Issue or authorize work permits in accordance with Company standards;
- Ensure receipt and shipping of product by vessels / transfer lines in storage tanks;
- Member of the Emergency Response Team. Actively participate in emergency situations (fire / spill) when required;
- Record a detailed account of the day’s activities, operation, equipment issues, quality issues, administration issues etc.
- Include reasons for deviations to plan, as well as, any action taken to mitigate the issues;
- Monitor transfer line and terminal activity to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and client procedures and policies;
- Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders ( operators terminal / refinery, marine group, supply...);
- Perform quality rounds as outlined, with a critical eye to the equipment operation. Site inspections for security, environmental and business concerns;
- Perform routine jobs tasks as defined, including but not limited to, preventative Maintenance program equipment inspections, snow removal, facility housekeeping, general administration and record-keeping, supplies replenishment, shipping & receiving;
- Perform equipment light-maintenance, adjustment, calibration, lubrication as required. Pump, valve and motor maintenance start up, shutdown, troubleshooting of process equipment;
- Product isolation, as well as proper lockout / tag out procedures;
- Perform sampling of product per schedule or when required by quality issues;
- Maintain demonstrated ability to perform all job functions;
- Maintain competencies by reading and understanding new procedures or relevant changes to the manuals and documentation;
- Assist with procedure creation and revision. Development of work orders and MOC’s (Manual of change);
- Conduct safety observations to ensure contractor engagement while working on-site.
Qualifications
PROFILE
- Education : High school Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
- Experience : 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience required, or equivalent experience through education.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience in Marine terminal operations and Trade ticket with industrial experience preferred;
- Knowledgeable in all applicable government regulations and marine standards (ISGOTT) is a major asset;
- Knowledge of WHMIS / TDG;
- Valid driver’s license required;
- Maintain certification for St. Johns first aid / CPR and portable defibrillator;
- Good verbal and written communication skills in French and English;
- Ability and willingness to work a shift schedule consisting of days and nights, during week or weekend, flex shift, meet on-call requirements, plus work overtime when required;
- Must possess the physical capabilities to safely perform all essential aspects & responsibilities of a Terminal & Transfer line Operator position;
- Must be comfortable working outdoors;
- Must possess the mechanical aptitude to capably understand and handle the operation of terminal systems and equipment;
- Must possess the mechanical skills required to perform light-maintenance on terminal equipment;
- Demonstrated ability to operate computerized equipment;
- Strong computer skills (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel);
- Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential;
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment;
- Works well under pressure;
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner;
- Strong analytical, trouble-shooting capability & decision making skills;
- Strong work ethic and flexibility;
