Job Summary
The Heavy‑Duty Mechanic (HDM) is responsible for performing inspections, major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of locomotives.

This position is a unionized position, as such pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement.
Paid Training
Successful candidates will receive on‑the‑job training, including theoretical and practical instructions. Depending on experience, candidates may receive a 4‑year on‑the‑job apprenticeship program and attend courses at your CN work location in Canada. Training will include locomotive components, control systems, air brakes, start‑up, basic diesel‑electric systems and CN maintenance regulations. Truck and traction motors, event recorders, and fuel, oil, water and air systems plus power assembly will also be covered. Successful completion of this program is essential for future duties.
