Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team, focusing primarily on vessel-mounted cranes and truck-mounted equipment. This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and testing across a variety of equipment types, including commercial fishing vessels, dock-mounted cranes, and both 185-ton and 165-ton cranes. The position entails working outdoors approximately 30% of the time and 70% in the shop.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop, including snow and ice equipment installations on trucks.
• Conduct inspections, engine diagnostics, chassis work, suspension, emission systems, and transmission repairs.
• Diagnose defects in heavy-duty equipment.
• Install new and added-on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
• Accurately complete work orders and time cards.
• Repair cable, electrical, and air-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, and electric generators.

Work Environment

This position offers a day shift schedule from 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM, Monday to Friday. You'll have the opportunity to travel all over the island, with paid travel from the shop to the job site and a $100 / day per diem. Training is available for technician levels 1, 2, and 3 in Surrey. The team consists of 4 people on the floor, aiming to expand to 5-6, with 2 people in administration. The work environment is dynamic and supportive, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
