JOB OVERVIEW :

The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with Construction projects focused on quick service restaurants and multi location brands and chains. This role requires a strong understanding of industry standards, and construction project management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and mathematical skills, as well as the ability to interpret architectural drawings and specifications.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and other relevant documents to understand project requirements and scope.
  • Conduct material / labour / general labour and specific trade take-offs.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and other project-related items.
  • Prepare comprehensive and detailed cost estimates including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project expenses.
  • Analyze and evaluate project requirements, specifications, and drawings to identify potential cost-saving opportunities or value engineering options.
  • Consult with Designers, and Project Managers to clarify project details, resolve ambiguities, and address any discrepancies or conflicts.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of project estimates, including documentation of assumptions, qualifications, and exclusions.
  • Prepare and present estimate reports to management, clients, and other stakeholders, highlighting cost breakdowns, pricing assumptions, and any value-added recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop and refine project budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market pricing, and material cost fluctuations to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Participate in bid meetings, site visits, and pre-construction meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum 3-5 years in construction industry
  • 3 or more years estimating custom, commercial, architectural millwork
  • Thorough knowledge of construction process and cabinet related materials and hardware (wood species, veneer, core materials, laminate, solid surfacing, functional hardware, decorative hardware, countertop materials, glass, finishes, molding, etc)
  • Blueprint reading and understanding of all construction documents and standards related of the millwork industry
  • Strong problem-identification and problem-resolution skills
  • Professionalism
  • Able to effectively build and maintain strong relationships and proven communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings as required.
  • EDUCATION :

  • Minimum college degree in Estimating
