The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and processing payroll, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, administering employee benefits, and supporting HR-related activities. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Administer payroll for all types of employees across Canada.Coordinate payroll approval processes, including validation of attendance data, processing of automated forms, and review of payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to final submission.Ensure the application of collective agreement provisions in payroll processing for unionized employees, including calculation of hours worked, premiums, and production of required reports.Manage year-end payroll activities.Support the onboarding of new employees with respect to payroll and benefits.Create and maintain employee records.Manage payroll-related benefits (insurance, RRSPs, paid leave, taxable benefits).Ensure accurate processing of end-of-month payments for various benefit plans.Handle documentation related to pension plan enrollment and termination for new hires and departing employees.Respond to employee inquiries regarding compensation.Respond to government requests related to payroll matters, such as Records of Employment (ROE).Collaborate with auditors and tax authorities during audits.Compile data for compliance with Law 90.Stay informed of legal updates affecting payroll and benefits.Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes and HR policies.Qualifications
Degree in administration, accounting, or a related field.3 to 5 years of relevant experience in payroll processing.Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP).Strong knowledge of Canadian labor laws and taxation.Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.Discretion, professionalism, and a strong customer service orientation.Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification is an asset.Interested yet?
