Working in partnership with Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney, MDS AeroTest operates the GLACIER aircraft engine icing test facility in Thompson, Manitoba. GLACIER is a unique, world-class facility that provides turbofan engine manufactures with a critical capability to conduct ice ingestion certification testing for the next generation of aircraft engines.
We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Maintenance & Security Technician to join our team at a world-class outdoor aero-engine test facility. This role is critical to ensuring the security, safety, and smooth day-to-day operation of the site while supporting building, grounds, and facility systems maintenance.
Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll help protect the site, maintain high operational standards, and support preventative maintenance activities across a range of systems and equipment.
What you will be doing :
- Maintain site security in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor, report, and document any security concerns or breaches, liaising with management as required.
- Ensure buildings, facilities, and grounds are kept clean, orderly, and well-maintained.
- Perform manual labour tasks including snow removal, grass cutting, material handling, and general groundskeeping.
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on building and engine test systems, including fuel, compressed air, hydraulic, and water systems, following approved work instructions and safe work procedures.
- Operate heavy equipment, including a CAT wheel loader.
- Perform work safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively in line with company Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
- Contribute positively as part of a team, working collaboratively and safely at all times.
- Carry out other reasonable duties within the scope of the role, as assigned by supervision.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Ability to meet company eyesight and hearing test requirements.Strong communication skills and a calm, practical approach to problem-solving.Valid driver’s license.Comfortable using computers, tablets, and mobile devices for work instructions and record keeping.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook.Willingness to learn, adapt, and develop new skills.Desirable Skills
Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and piping drawings.Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a construction, mechanical, or electrical trade.Education
High school diploma.Proof of Manitoba Security Training Certification.Experience
Operation of equipment such as skid-steer loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulated aerial work platforms.Experience operating a CAT wheel loader or similar heavy equipment.Minor vehicle maintenance experience.Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches.Experience in building, industrial facility, or equipment maintenance.Why Join Us
