In the role of the Maintenance Assistant, you'll provide preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and a timely response to routine maintenance and repair requests for buildings, grounds and equipment.

About The Role

As the Maintenance Assistant, you ensure maintenance work and storage areas are clean and organized, and you continually seek innovative ways to improve service while maintaining high standards. You maintain current knowledge of applicable codes and regulations and provide 24-hour maintenance support, attending to building emergencies after business hours. You keep detailed records of all preventative and on-demand maintenance and actively promote a culture of health and safety by demonstrating safe working practices and encouraging team members to do the same. Your responsibilities include repairing and constructing furniture, replacing plumbing fixtures, performing electrical and mechanical repairs on various equipment and appliances, and applying paint and other finishes. You also perform maintenance on heavy-duty equipment, assign tasks to designated team members, and provide training and orientation. Additionally, you establish and monitor preventative maintenance procedures, recommend repairs and purchases participate in safety committee activities, and ensure workplace safety discussion area regular part of team meetings. Your work location will be our Village at Mill Creek Community.

Requirements

Post-secondary education is preferred

A minimum of 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Experienced driver with a minimum of Class 5 license and a clear driving record

Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

With strong mechanical skills, critical thinking, and adaptability, you effectively maintain and repair various appliances and systems. Your ability to manage time and workload ensures tasks are completed effectively, contributing to the smooth operation of our communities and creating a safe environment for residents and team members. Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is $27.10 / hour as per HEU Grid 16, comprehensive benefits package, four weeks vacation and enrollment with the MPP.
