About the Job
The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Public Health Services team :
- Provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health / Health Promotion model
- Translate knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health enhancing behaviours to diverse individuals, families, and population groups through universal and targeted interventions, programs and advocacy
- Offers services in communities, schools, homes and outreach locations to individuals, families and communities
Inherent in the role are knowledge, skills and abilities specific to health promotion, epidemiology, community development, primary health care, social determinants of health and illness, and disease and injury prevention.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions.

Days of work may be Mondays to Fridays during the hours of 08 : 30- 16 : 30.
This position will cover the communities of Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford.

Fernie is a historic mountain town founded in 1898. Fernie is located in southeast British Columbia, Canada and is completely surrounded by the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Please note that travel is a requirement for this position and transportation arrangements must meet the Employer’s requirements.
You are required to hold a valid BC Driver’s License and may be required to drive a personal car on mileage and / or be assigned a fleet vehicle as a condition of employment.
