Job Description
As a Mental Health Case Management Consultant at Sun Life, you'll play a crucial role in optimizing our approach to mental health disability claims. Your expertise in mental health and case management will be instrumental in guiding our Disability Case Managers (DCMs), Rehabilitation Consultants (RC) and Case Management Consultants (CMC) to implement best practices and evidence-based case management strategies. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert consultation and support, with a keen focus on enhancing case management competencies, leading to improved claim outcomes and shortened durations.
Key Accountabilities :
Provide case management consultation and coaching directly to DCMs an RCs on complex and / or mental health claims.
Based on critical analysis of claim data, conduct thorough file reviews to identify individual, office and / or regional trends pertaining to mental health claims.
Collaborate with the national Mental Health Team to identify national trends, develop interactive educational / training programs, and create resources and job aids that support group disability operations.
Facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and complex claim rounds to promote enhanced learning and optimize case management behaviours.
Build strong relationships with your regional CMC peers and partner with them for skills upgrading and knowledge transfer opportunities.
Support the development, education and upskilling of mental health competencies unique to the needs of the COE.
Systematically track, collect, and analyze data from claim consultations / reviews, with a strong emphasis on measuring key performance metrics and evaluating success indicators to drive continuous improvement in the claims process.
What you Bring to the Table :
Extensive knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment methodologies, and case management strategies, with 5-7 years of experience in related fields.
2-4 years of experience as a Disability Case Manager (DCM) required with a proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for all stakeholders.
Proficiency in case formulation, treatment planning, and understanding the impact of symptoms on functionality.
Superior communication skills, including the ability to influence, motivate, and negotiate effectively.
Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback, drive change, and convey complex concepts to facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development.
Highly adaptable with strong analytical and critical thinking skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Collaborative team player with exceptional listening skills and empathy.
Positive attitude with a commitment to quality service and continuous improvement.
As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleague
Competencies & Assets :
A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
3-5 years Long Term Disability Claims experience required
Minimum of excellence level in case management progression model
