Job description

We are currently sourcing for a Director of People and Culture to join our client’s organization as a senior leadership role that reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is a key member of the management team. This role is responsible for providing innovative and strategic leadership to support the achievement of both strategic and operational goals across the organization. The Director will provide guidance on Human Resources matters at all levels, fostering an environment of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and learning. Additionally, this role will promote an organizational culture that prioritizes diversity and inclusion, respect, dignity, and professional excellence.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement HR strategy in collaboration with leadership.
  • Ensure regulations' compliance by establishing HR policies and procedures.
  • Advise on handling WSIB claims and employee accommodations.
  • Lead HR projects such as organizational reviews.
  • Represent the company in external HR-related matters.
  • Stay updated on HR trends and legislation.
  • Lead training and development initiatives.
  • Support CEO with Board and AGM reporting.
  • Participate in key strategic HR meetings.
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive culture aligned with strategic visions.
  • Provide counsel on performance management and staffing decisions.
  • Assess and enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Liaise with union representatives on various union matters.
  • Support COO with workforce analytics.
  • Advise employees on HR policies and collective agreements.
  • Promote health, safety, and wellbeing culture.
  • Identify key roles and develop succession plans.
  • Establish value proposition to attract talent.
  • Develop strategies for talent pipeline and growth.
  • Manage the HR team in areas like talent acquisition and benefits administration.
  • Oversee preparation of training fund applications and reports.
  • Track and analyze HR Key Performance Indicators.

Qualification :

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional HR experience with exposure to employee relations, performance management, staffing, organizational development, compensation, training, and benefits administration.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation preferred.
  • Experience leading HR programs related to people, strategy, and resource utilization.
  • Proven ability to provide advice and support to senior leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Health and Home & Community Care sectors and workforce trends within these fields is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act and Labour Relations Act.
  • Experience with Collective Agreement procedures and contract negotiations.
  • Strong knowledge of benchmarking tools for evaluating HR programs and services.
