We are looking for a dedicated Civil Litigation Associate to join a leading litigation boutique in Toronto, Ontario. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual passionate about civil litigation, with a proven ability to deliver outstanding results in complex legal matters. As part of a dynamic team, you will contribute to high-profile cases and help uphold the firm’s reputation for excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Represent clients in civil litigation cases, ensuring thorough preparation and effective courtroom advocacy.
• Conduct detailed legal research and draft high-quality pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop comprehensive case strategies and identify potential legal risks.
• Manage case files and ensure compliance with procedural requirements and deadlines.
• Provide expert advice and counsel to clients, addressing their legal concerns and objectives.
• Analyze complex legal issues and present findings to support case arguments.
• Attend hearings, mediations, and trials to advocate on behalf of clients.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, ensuring adherence to legal standards.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster trust and confidence.
• Work on commercial litigation matters and contribute to the firm’s success in criminal law cases when required.
• A Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from a recognized law school.
• 2-5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a strong track record of success.
• Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills, demonstrated through previous work.
• Proven ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to solving complex legal challenges.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and colleagues.
• Familiarity with commercial litigation and criminal law is considered an asset.
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
