Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Position Reports To: Training Supervisor.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Training Supervisor, the Underground Mine Trainer delivers theoretical and practical training on underground equipment in accordance with MAESD modules, OHSA, Regulation 854, and company standards.
This role requires building strong working relationships and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders to coordinate, execute, and complete training requirements. Responsibilities also include developing lesson plans, SOPs, JHAs, underground inductions, training materials, and maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Hard Rock Miner Common Core (770225, 770010) and specialty training modules in accordance with MAESD standards.
- Conduct site-specific Underground Orientation for new and transferred employees.
- Facilitate one-on-one, small group, and large group training sessions, adapting delivery methods to suit trainees’ needs.
- Ability to handle a high level of confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date training records, ensuring full compliance with documentation and sign-off requirements.
- Communicate effectively with trainees, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to support learning outcomes.
- Support operations by aligning training initiatives with departmental performance metrics.
- Ability to organize and prioritize job duties.
- Follow structured lesson plans aligned with MAESD training standards to ensure consistent delivery of required content.
- Mentor experienced employees who provided additional on-the-job coaching and skills development.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Monitor employee progression and ensure follow-up training aligned with progression plans.
- Participate in risk assessments and development of departmental procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum 3–5 years of underground mining experience, including at least 1 year in a training role.
- TTT Certified.
- Accredited in Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core (770010, 770225).
- Accredited in various Underground MTCU Specialty Modules.
- First Aid.
- MOL Step 5
- WHMIS
- Vista LMS.
- Proficient computer skills (LMS, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $114,000.00 - $123,000.00.
