Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.

Created to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, T&I is the backbone and the future-forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly-regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from a conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and T&I is the team making it happen.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

The opportunity

CBC/Radio-Canada operates one of the world’s leading technology infrastructures and one of the largest private networks, which distributes its content and services exclusively across the country. CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for a hands-on, detail design-oriented Engineering Project Lead to join our Engineering team, to both lead and take part in projects focused on deploying technology. This is a full-time permanent position, and the successful incumbent would be based in Montreal, working primarily on local projects, with eventual and occasional travel to various other sites nationally.

What’s in it for you?

Challenges. We spend our days solving problems on an unbelievable scale. Media systems workflows are highly specialized and complicated; updating, installing and supporting technologies that are organization-wide and that impact broadcasting content is a time-sensitive, complex technical feat. And that’s just the beginning. You will manage the end-to-end project implementation from proposal and procurement to design, implementation, testing and handover, in accordance with CBC/Radio-Canada and industry standards as well as current federal and provincial regulations. Additionally, you will be afforded in working with cutting edge technology in data management, cloud migration, IP for broadcast, Automation and security and reliability.

Perks you can look forward to:

  • Four weeks of vacation.

  • Work from home opportunities.

  • Good compensation package.

  • Free language classes.

  • Opportunities to work with cutting edge technology.

  • Opportunities for continued learning and professional development.

  • A creative and dynamic work environment, where your ideas and contributions can be heard, valued and respected.

  • A supportive management team committed to upholding the highest standards of diversity and inclusivity.

As our new Engineering Project Lead you will:

  • Create concept designs for review with our business partners.

  • Design in detail, innovative, practical solutions to complex problems.

  • Regularly meet with stakeholders to determine requirements and solutions.

  • Create and track the schedules and budgets; monitoring progress.

  • Prepare schematic, layout drawings and installation instructions.

  • Oversee the procurement from writing proposals to evaluating tender responses.

  • Responsible for the implementation phase.

  • Verify system performance and ensure that identified deficiencies are rectified

  • Prepare documentation for ongoing operation and maintenance of facilities.

What you bring :

  • Expertise in advanced network architecture and design, with extensive hands-on experience implementing, supporting enterprise-class networking solutions and real-time applications.

  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco and Arista technologies across datacenter infrastructure, campus networks, and a wide range of network services.

  • Proficient in Automation large-scale network deployments and implementing modifications to support multicast and real-time data streams.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of complex routing protocols, Wi-Fi solutions, authentication mechanisms, WAN technologies, multicast, and the development/enforcement of network security policies.

  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  • Project Management capabilities, with preference for Agile methodologies and experience delivering complex IT/Telecom initiatives.

  • Professional accreditation: Membership, or eligibility for membership, in a provincial engineering association (PEO, OIQ, etc.) is considered an asset.

  • Bilingual communication French with strong verbal and written skills, enabling effective influence and collaboration across technical and business stakeholders. Functional English is required.

  • Analytical and problem-solving expertise, able to evaluate complex technical issues, design innovative solutions, remove roadblocks, and deliver both short-term fixes and long-term improvements.

  • Collaboration and leadership skills, fostering strong relationships with peers, clients, management, and vendors, while translating technical requirements into clear business value.

  • Multitasking and organizational ability, successfully managing multiple projects at varying stages without compromising detail or quality.

  • Adaptability and continuous learning, with the ability to quickly adopt new tools and technologies while keeping current with industry best practices.

  • Flexibility to travel as required, including across CBC/Radio-Canada locations, to oversee and support project delivery phases.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
