About the Role:

We are embarking on an exciting new chapter one that will strengthen Tropicanas impact and ensure our programs continue to uplift the communities we serve.


Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serving as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Director, Programs and Community Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Tropicanas program portfolio.


This role ensures that programs are responsive, outcomes-driven, and culturally relevant, while fostering excellence across a multi-disciplinary team and driving collaboration across departments. The Director will play a central role in enhancing community partnerships, innovation, and continuous improvement across all program areas.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all Tropicana programs and community services.
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio including counselling, childcare, youth, seniors, food security, and employment support.
  • Develop and manage annual operational plans and budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective resource management.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data, evaluation, and community feedback to enhance service impact.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of program managers and coordinators, fostering a culture of inclusion, excellence, and accountability.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with funders, community agencies, schools, and other stakeholders to strengthen program delivery.
  • Collaborate with Fundraising & Philanthropy, Marketing, and People & Culture leads to advance program sustainability and visibility.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative, accreditation, and funder requirements.
  • Contribute to organization-wide strategy and decision-making as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.



Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership in non-profit program management, ideally serving diverse and marginalized communities.
  • Bachelors degree in Social Services, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing multi-service programs and teams within a complex, multi-site environment.
  • Strong understanding of culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive service delivery frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated program evaluation and financial management experience, including budgeting and funding compliance.
  • Passion for community empowerment, equity, and social impact.
