Westmount Shopping Centre is a busy retail shopping centre serving the surrounding community. The site requires high-visibility patrols, monitoring of entrances and common areas, incident response, and customer service engagement. Security personnel maintain a welcoming yet proactive presence to ensure the safety of tenants and shoppers.
Position: Full Time Security Supervisor

Hours: Monday to Friday (8AM to 4PM)
Overtime Method: Employment Standards Act (ESA)
Job Duties:
- Supervise, mentor, and support the on-site security team during assigned shifts.
- Conduct regular patrols of the mall, exterior grounds, parking lots, and common areas.
- Monitor activity during peak traffic periods, including school lunch hours, and proactively address safety and security concerns.
- Enforce the mall's Code of Conduct, the Trespass to Property Act, and applicable legislation.
- Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, disturbances, alarms, fire alarms, suspicious persons, and property damage.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and liaise with police, fire, EMS, and mall management when required.
- Review and approve incident reports, occurrence reports, and daily activity logs for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure security equipment, radios, keys, CCTV systems, and access control systems are properly utilized and documented.
- Monitor CCTV systems and coordinate appropriate responses to observed incidents.
- Build positive working relationships with tenants, contractors, visitors, and mall management.
- Ensure compliance with Paladin Security policies, client procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Assist with scheduling, training, onboarding, and performance management of security personnel.
- Other job related duties as assigned by the management
Prerequisites:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
- 6 months to 1 year supervisory or team lead experience in security is a must.
- Previous experience in retail environment is preferred
- Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act, Mental Health Act, and applicable legislation.
- Strong conflict resolution, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing detailed reports and conducting investigations.
- Proficiency with CCTV, access control systems, Microsoft Office, and basic computer applications.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Physically able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
