Operational SupportResearch AssociateAnnapolis Valley CampusMiddleton, Nova ScotiaDepartment of Applied ResearchTerm Full Time Position: Commencing February 1, 2026 and ending approximately March 31, 2028Application deadline: 11:59PM, November 20, 2025Competition No: 2526-293Salary Range: $49,964.60 - $61,260.86 annually Responsibilities What you will be doing…You will provide technical assistance for projects led by the Research Scientists. This involves assisting with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies.On a daily basis, you may be working on one or more research projects. This position may conduct fieldwork in support of data acquisition missions which may require both indoor and outside working environments.Innovative and committed to life-long learning, the Research Associate is a creative self-starter with a commitment to research excellence. Qualifications Qualifications and Occupational Experience:A diploma, advanced diploma, or degree in a related field or discipline specific to the specific to the nature of the research. (natural resources, environmental science, biology, horticulture, and agriculture, plant physiology, or related field).You have a minimum of two years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork.Occupational experience that includes crop management, crop sampling, soil sampling, and nutrient analysis, as well as running pot to plot level field experiments would be considered an asset.Previous experience working with Balsam Fir or Christmas trees, specifically around conifer physiology, especially needle retention, senescence, or post-harvest handling would be considered an assetKnowledge of abiotic stress factors (e.g., drought, temperature) affecting needle retentionProficiency in data analysis and scientific writingYou are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mailYou are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your workExperience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.Relevant Skills and KnowledgeYou demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusionYou possess excellent interpersonal skills and are able to interact at all levels of an organizationYou are known for your superior customer service skills and can create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interactionYour superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environmentYou have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in using a LiCor 6800 photosynthetic system and environmental chambers)You are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skillsYou are a strong communicator.You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to setting up, managing and conduct research projects)Strong communication skills for collaborating with growers, industry partners, and academic teams.You have proven records and information management skills and abilities related to research data collection, analysis and visualization.You have strong project management skills related to research activities About Nova Scotia Community College We value Diversity and InclusionThe College values diversity and inclusion and is committed to employment equity.
