Project Superintendent

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Superintendent on behalf of an established general contractor delivering complex civil and infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced field leader who enjoys taking ownership of site operations and working within a collaborative project team. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day field delivery, coordinating crews, subcontractors, schedule, safety and productivity while working closely with the Project Manager.

The position is site-based, with projects primarily located throughout the Greater Vancouver area.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead day-to-day site operations, field personnel, subcontractors and trade partners.
• Coordinate construction activities, sequencing, manpower, equipment and site logistics.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain project schedules and key milestones.
• Monitor labour productivity, quantities, costs and overall project progress.
• Review drawings and specifications and proactively identify potential construction or design issues.
• Coordinate self-performed and subcontracted scopes of work.
• Lead site, trade coordination and safety meetings.
• Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Liaise with owners, consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Support projects through construction, completion and closeout.

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 8–10+ years of construction experience, ideally within heavy civil or infrastructure.
• Previous experience as a Superintendent, Site Superintendent or Senior/Assistant Superintendent with a general contractor.
• Strong heavy civil, infrastructure and/or structural concrete experience.
• Water/wastewater or municipal infrastructure experience would be a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of concrete and formwork construction considered an asset
• Ability to independently manage field operations and take ownership of site delivery.
• Experience coordinating crews, subcontractors and multiple trades.
• Solid understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, manpower planning and cost control.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Gold Seal, CET, C.Tech. or P.Eng. designation/certification is an asset.

We are also open to considering a strong Assistant Superintendent ready to take the next step, provided they have the right project exposure, field leadership experience and ability to grow into independently managing site operations.
