Job Description

Actalent's EPC client is looking for a Process Engineer to join the team and support the delivery of conventional oil & gas facility projects throughout Western Canada. This individual will work closely with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop process designs from initial production data through detailed engineering.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing client-provided flow rates, fluid compositions, operating conditions, and production forecasts; developing Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs); performing process simulations and calculations; sizing equipment and piping systems; and preparing process design deliverables to support detailed engineering and procurement activities.

This role will support projects involving upstream production facilities, batteries, compressor stations, gas processing facilities, pipelines, and facility expansions. The Process Engineer will also participate in technical evaluations, process optimization initiatives, client meetings, and engineering reviews while ensuring designs align with applicable regulatory and industry standards.

Must Have Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of oil & gas industry experience.
• 10+ years of upstream conventional oil & gas process engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting projects within a consulting, EPC, or EPCM environment as a process engineer
• Experience serving as a Process Lead for multiple clients or projects
• Previous leadership experience mentoring or supervising junior and intermediate engineers (up to 3)
• Willingness and ability to stamp engineering deliverables.
• Experience working with HYSYS
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously (typically 2-5 active projects).
• Experience with project values ranging from small capital projects to facilities exceeding $30M TIC.
• Experience developing PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, line lists, process calculations, and equipment datasheets.
• Strong equipment sizing experience including separators, treaters, pumps, compressors, vessels, and associated process equipment.
• Experience performing hydraulic analysis, line sizing, and pressure drop calculations.
• Practical knowledge of HYSYS and the application of simulation results to facility design and operating philosophies.
• Experience executing projects from Pre-FEED through commissioning and startup.
• Experience supporting greenfield, brownfield, and Management of Change (MOC) projects for upstream facilities and pipelines.

Additional Skills

• Sour gas facility experience.
• Ability to operate HYSYS
• Compressor station and pipeline facility experience.
• HAZOP, PHA, and LOPA participation experience.
• Client-facing business development experience.
• Project engineering or project management experience.
• Experience developing operating philosophies and facility operating procedures.

• High horsepower this is a demanding role with constant touchpoints across projects
• Willingness to be hands-on and in the weeds
• Clear, confident communicator

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $90.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
