Job description

Job Description

As a Director on the Ipsos Online Communities and Custom Panels team, you will be joining a dynamic and growing team of research and community/Panel experts dedicated to bringing the consumer voice to life for some of the world’s most innovative brands.

In this role you will be responsible for retaining and accelerating the growth of the Online Community business. This position will allow you to collaborate with clients to present and leverage new tools, methods, and cutting‑edge solutions to impact your client’s business and society at large. You will work across both qualitative and quantitative avenues to interpret client objectives and guide your team in the creation of Online Communities driven by strategic engagement and research design.

What You Can Expect To Be Doing

  • Lead Online Community studies across the Canada market in terms of clients, research, revenue maintenance/growth and analytical rigor.
  • Manage client needs related specifically to Online Communities and research offerings of the Online Communities service line.
  • Independently price and write full proposals of all types, with a goal of growing Ipsos business and presence with assigned clients.
  • Perform data analysis and verification, test hypotheses, draw conclusions; prepare reports and presentations — make recommendations from the data results based on the client’s requests and business issues.
  • Have vision to a spectrum of client needs and help connect the dots between projects. May include linking projects to each other, pulling in other service lines, proactively sharing Ipsos capabilities of interest, and more. May include new business outreach and structured business development plans.
  • Manage, mentor and train junior team members on best practices and career growth on an ongoing basis.
  • Create an “internal brand” within Ipsos and give thought to the unique area (whether client‑facing or internal‑facing) and activities that will help guide what the team wants to be known for as an expert within and outside of Ipsos.

Client Management Responsibilities

  • Act as primary project lead to your clients. Handle complex conversations/communications around project design, analysis, and unexpected challenges.
  • Work to ensure business retention and uncover incremental revenue generation opportunities. Provide coaching and guidance to more junior team members on their own client interactions.

Project Responsibilities

  • Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data from online community interactions using cross‑tabulation, thematic and content analysis, and analytical techniques. Manage datasets from community platform, drive high engagement of community members, user‑generated content, and integrated research databases. Lead comprehensive report writing that synthesizes community insights, behavioral patterns, and member feedback. Provide strategic client guidance on community development and optimization, and present findings that combine quantitative results with qualitative insights.

Strategic Thinking Expectations

  • Act as a strategic leader for project team and, in some cases, for client account team overall. Think through implications of actions, identify opportunities and risks, and act accordingly, balancing what the client needs with the optimal outcome for Ipsos.

Requirements

  • Strong Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with using hierarchical or multi‑level databases.
  • Superior organizational skills, including ability to manage and delegate work effectively, attention to detail, and demonstrated commitment to accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Balance of attention to detail with a view of the bigger picture and overall objectives of each task.
  • Ability to oversee/run multiple projects.
  • Ability to think creatively about how to align the appropriate project resources, whether inside or outside of the immediate project team.
  • Strong aptitude for research consulting with highly developed analytic skills.
  • Ability to think strategically in terms of clients’ business, and opportunities for Ipsos to grow its business.
  • Highly motivated, self‑directed, and possess a driven personality capable of working within tight deadlines.
  • Strong relationships with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with well‑developed interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Minimum of 7 years of research experience.
  • Large multi‑country projects experience is advantageous.

If you don’t meet 100 % of the requirements, we encourage all who feel they might be a fit for the opportunity to apply. We may consider a variety of backgrounds for a particular role and are also committed to considering candidates for available positions throughout our organization, not just the one you’re applying to!

What’s In It For You

At Ipsos you’ll experience opportunities for career development, an exceptional benefits package (including generous PTO, healthcare plans, wellness benefits), a flexible workplace policy, and a strong collaborative culture.

Commitment to Diversity

Ipsos recognizes the necessity of building an inclusive culture that values each employee’s individuality and diverse perspectives. For over 40 years, our mission has been to generate and analyze data about society, markets, brands, and behaviors to provide our clients with insights that elevate their understanding of the world. This could not be fulfilled without Ipsos’ diverse employees who compile and analyze this data—they are the essence of who we are and what we do.

We are committed to providing equal opportunity to all employees, creating an environment that promotes inclusion, and enabling employees from all walks of life to flourish. Ipsos encourages our employees to act in a respectful and responsible manner, in line with best practices concerning diversity and inclusion, human rights, equality, and civility for every individual.
