Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated AWS Developer with 5+ years of experience to support the migration of a real-time payments application from an on-premise system to AWS cloud.
In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable, cloud-native solutions. You will work closely with the Lead Developer, Architects, Product Owners, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week onsite at the client office in downtown Toronto.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of AWS-based solutions.
• Develop and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS services and modern technologies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Work with architects to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with AWS best practices.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Ensure code quality through testing, logging, performance optimization, and adherence to standards.
• Coordinate with onshore and offshore teams to deliver project outcomes.
• Identify risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
• Prepare technical documentation and support project handover activities.
• Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and project managers.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• 5 years of experience as an AWS Developer.
• Strong experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, VPC, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Aurora, SNS, SQS, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Strong understanding of serverless architecture, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Experience with API development and backend technologies such as Node.js and TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of Angular or similar front-end frameworks.
• Experience with version control and collaboration tools (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, JIRA, Postman, SOAP UI).
• Familiarity with IDE tools such as Visual Studio Code.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Experience working in Agile and/or Waterfall environments.
• Ability to work independently on complex technical tasks.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
• Experience working on real-time payments or financial systems.
• Experience with AWS reactive architecture patterns.
• Experience working with distributed (onshore/offshore) teams.
