Overview
Interior Health Authority is seeking an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join our Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Certified Practice – Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) team at Sparwood Health Centre in Sparwood, BC. This role supports timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.
About the Job
The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) - Certified Practice - OUD functions as a member of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure persons with opioid use disorder have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services. Working in the assigned clinical area, the RN/RPN provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment (including ordering and prescribing opioid agonist therapy), referrals to community supports, and escalation of care to primary care practitioners and addiction medicine practitioners as required. This is a Relief Part Time (0.69) opportunity until December 10, 2026, or the return of the incumbent. Shifts are scheduled days, rotating from 08:36 to 16:24 hours.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment within a person- and family-centered care model.
- Order and prescribe opioid agonist therapy as part of treatment for opioid use disorder.
- Refer clients to community supports and coordinate care with the broader interdisciplinary team.
- Escalate care as required to primary care practitioners and addiction medicine specialists.

Qualifications
Registration as a nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and eligibility to practice as an RN or RPN. Experience in mental health and substance use treatment is implied by the role description.
