As a Health and Safety Advisor on Pomerleau's Construction Health and Safety team, your main responsibility will be to ensure compliance with the safety standards required by laws and regulations for a large-scale building or infrastructure construction project - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion. You will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with the site superintendent and site teams. You will be part of an OHS team of 3 to 5 people.

What You Will Do

  • Investigate all accidents and serious incidents and report to the Health & Safety Manager,
  • Order a work stoppage if the situation so requires, and require immediate corrective action to be taken in the event of a site visit,
  • Issue and follow up on notices of non-compliance,
  • Compile statistics and monthly reports,
  • Verify the effectiveness of the prevention program and propose recommendations to the site manager and site committee,
  • Distribute and comment on work accident reports,
  • Record all information concerning accidents, fires and occupational illnesses, in order to provide a prevention guide,
  • Carry out periodic and daily inspections and ensure that corrective measures are completed,
  • Maintain an accident and observation register,
  • Enforce instructions, hygiene measures and all site-specific safety measures,
  • Document a weekly report of OHS interventions on site.

This role could be for you if you have

  • 2-5 years of similar experience,
  • Valid driver's license,
  • Construction site health and safety card (ASP),
  • Excellent knowledge of the construction industry,
  • Good oral and written writing skills in French.
