Our Construction Phase Services group located in Markham, Whitby, Toronto and Mississauga Offices is looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Inspector to perform inspection duties on Highway/Road/Bridge projects in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Responsibilities
- Work safely and observe GHD’s Behaviour‑Based Safety culture.
- Complete day‑to‑day inspections of Highway/Road/Bridge projects in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals.
- Make payment recommendations to Contract Administrator and client staff.
- Daily complete project records / diary entries.
- Monitor contractor work for compliance with contract specifications.
- Monitor contractor work for compliance with applicable safety and environmental legislation.
- Take action, in consultation with Contract Administrator and in accordance with contract requirements, when non‑conformances are observed.
- Use the Ministry of Transportation Web‑Based Contract Management System on MTO assignments.
- Make recommendations or propose solutions for emerging project issues.
- Work nights, weekends, extended shifts and overtime as necessary. Work is seasonal and may involve greater hours in summer.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Provide external communications support.
- Provide operational support and sometimes act as first‑line supervisor of a construction project area.
- Follow health, safety and environment (HSE) policies, instructions; instruct the team in safe methods; identify risky behaviours and take appropriate action.
- Assign short‑term work schedules to a team of subordinates.
- Explain local action plans, support team members, and motivate to achieve business goals.
- Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve performance; monitor team performance, allocate work, review completion, and take corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality.
- Provide coaching to team members to develop skills.
- Identify non‑compliance with policies and regulatory codes; report and elevate issues.
- Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes; implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience.
- OACETT RCSI designation, or PEO EIT designation.
- Past experience in grading, asphalt and concrete work on greater than three transportation projects is considered an asset.
- Sound judgement and decisiveness.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence.
- Team player; cooperative with other staff; open sharing of information and knowledge.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $80,472–$120,708. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
