IT Help Desk

Scarborough ON

Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the IT Help Desk Technician is responsible for managing workstations, applications and ensuring IT helpdesk tickets are addressed within the defined Service Level expectations. He/she will also be responsible for delivery of assigned projects from time to time.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of support to the organization and act as the first point of contact on the IT Help Desk
2. Communicating electronically (and in-person) with desktop/laptop users experiencing technical difficulties by troubleshooting and documenting problems
3. Ensure suitable and effective end-user training is established and maintained at all locations
4. Setting up and deploying IT equipment for new employees
5. Addressing and resolving incoming tickets from users regarding hardware, software and network issues
6. Administer various IT systems including Exchange, Active Directory, Anti-virus, Remote Desktop, Print, Office 365
7. Ensure outsourced, hosted and/or managed solution providers adhere to agreed performance standards and policies by providing oversight and controls
8. Maintain IT asset inventory for laptops/desktops
9. Provide suggestions for improvement based on discoveries made with a view to reducing recurring faults or improving the service provision
10. Stay informed on new and emerging trends and technologies
11. Other duties as required.

Skills, Experience and Education:

1. Postsecondary education in technology related field
2. 1-3 years of relevant work experience
3. Proficient in helpdesk ticketing software
4. Strong skills in management of Active Directory, Exchange and Office 365
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Operating Systems
6. Working knowledge of Voice platforms (VoIP, PBX, Contact centres)
7. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new tools
8. Time management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively
9. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
10. Good written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate effectively over various mediums while maintaining IT department’s commitment to customer excellence.
11. Excellent work ethic and communicating with colleagues in a clear and professional manner
12. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Access)
