Responsibilities
Pharmacist - Assistant Pharmacy Manager - Specialty Pharmacy - Full-Time, Permanent - Weekdays! - RIchmond, BC - Healthcare

As the Assistant Pharmacy Manager, your time will be heavily focused on people management and workflow optimization.

Your core responsibilities include:

People and Process Leadership (95% of the time): Act as a primary motivator and influencer, overseeing day-to-day pharmacy operations, workflow management, and task delegation.

Team Supervision: Direct, coach, and support a dedicated team of approximately 10-15 direct reports, collaborating closely with the Pharmacy Supervisor to manage shippers and pharmacy assistants.

Operational Excellence: Assist the Pharmacy Manager with inventory control, workflow efficiencies, and ensuring all specialty medication processes run seamlessly.
Compliance and Safety: Maintain rigorous standards to ensure the pharmacy operates in full alignment with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia and Health Canada regulations.

Quality Assurance: Handle critical documentation including incident reports, adverse event tracking, and product quality complaints according to standard operating procedures.

Cold Chain Integrity: Rigorously monitor and maintain strict cold chain standards for all stored and shipped biologics and specialty drug products.

Clinical Support: Jump into the staff pharmacist workflow from time to time to assist with patient touchpoints and specialty dispensing when operational volumes require backup.


Qualifications

Professional Licensure: Must be currently licensed and in good standing to practice pharmacy in British Columbia.

Leadership Experience: Minimum of 1 year of dedicated experience in pharmacy management and direct people leadership.

Leadership Style: Proven background leading teams in high-speed environments, with a reputation as a proactive self-starter who drives results through collaboration and buy-in rather than micromanagement.

Adaptability: Highly comfortable navigating organizational change, ambiguity, and fast-moving environments while maintaining professional poise under pressure.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with an ability to present ideas persuasively and connect with diverse stakeholders.

Technical Aptitude: Proficient with MS Excel, Outlook, and Word. Nice-to-HavesSpecialty Environment: Prior experience managing or working within a specialty pharmacy environment is considered an asset.
