Overview

We are hiring a Construction Officer to join our Project Delivery team delivering Transmission and Distribution projects across British Columbia. The work is diverse and includes but is not limited to the construction of new substations; work in existing substations early site investigations and work on the transmission system up to and including 500kV. The role is mobile and will involve travel to potentially remote areas of British Columbia as needed by the project. The Construction Officer reports to the Director of Project Delivery.

Your role

• Support the Project Manager with project planning deliverables such as Outage Staging Construction Management Constructability Reviews as well as evaluating negotiating quantifying and approving claims.
• Review preliminary design drawings for constructability purposes to support Engineering including supporting the procurement process as needed by advising on proposal and tender documents.
• Monitoring and tracking of construction progress identifying and alerting the Project Manager of any delays as needed.
• Tracking and reviewing any contemplated changes during construction creating progress reports and identification and mitigation of construction risks.
• Facilitate construction management meetings between Contractors the Owner Engineering and other key stakeholders while ensuring the Project Manager remains updated on any risks or concerns.
• Review negotiate and approve progress payments.
• Coordinate design and construction interfaces with other subcontractors including partnering with Engineering during construction to facilitate solutions to design issues and challenges.
• Coordinate completion and handover process including inspections deficiency lists handover documentation. If acting as Prime Contractor ensure all the requirements of Prime Contractor are in place for the project.
• Ensure all construction drawings are updated and returned to engineering prior to closing contracts.
• Act as Site Safety Coordinator as needed.
• Develop a safe work culture at site. Be a safety ambassador and leader for all safety matters.
• Report any Safety or Environmental incidents in management systems; inform key stakeholders and work with the Owner and Contractor(s) on remediation plans.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $98100 - $134900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
