Job Title: Mechanical Installation TechnicianJob DescriptionAs a Mechanical Installation Technician, you will assemble and install multiple conveyor lines and related mezzanine structures within a large distribution facility. You will work in small, coordinated teams, using hand and power tools and occasionally operating lifts, to complete precise mechanical installations safely and efficiently in a heavy-duty construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install multiple conveyor lines and associated mezzanine structures according to layout drawings and installation standards.
- Work collaboratively in small teams to plan, sequence, and complete installation tasks on schedule while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
- Use a wide range of hand and power tools to perform mechanical assembly, alignment, fastening, and adjustment of conveyor components.
- Perform precise measurements, leveling, and squaring of equipment using tools such as measuring tapes, levels, and squares to ensure accurate installation.
- Operate scissor lifts and work at heights as required to install conveyor systems and mezzanine components on elevated platforms.
- Support material movement and equipment positioning, including tasks that may require operating forklifts if licensed and assigned.
- Follow all construction site safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to lockout/tagout and fall protection guidelines where applicable.
- Inspect installed components for correct positioning, secure fastening, and overall quality, and make adjustments as needed to meet project specifications.
- Communicate effectively with team members and site supervisors about progress, issues, and required changes to installation plans.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored safely and are readily available for use.
- Use and maintain personal tools in good working condition, including sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, levels, squares, pry bars, adjustable wrenches, measuring tapes, allen keys, and drifts.
- Participate in overtime and extended shifts as needed to meet project milestones and accommodate peak workload periods.
- Complete required certifications and training for scissor lift operation and, where applicable, forklift operation, and apply this training consistently in daily work.
Essential Skills- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in conveyor installation, construction labor, millwright work, welding, or similar mechanical roles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and assemble complex mechanical systems.
- Proven experience using a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively in an industrial or construction environment.
- Background in heavy-duty or industrial construction environments, with familiarity working around active construction activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work at heights, including on platforms and lifts, while following all safety procedures.
- Comfort working on a busy construction site and adapting to changing tasks, priorities, and conditions.
- Strong focus on safe work practices, including consistent use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety rules.
- Ability to work collaboratively within small teams, communicate clearly, and contribute to a positive, safety-conscious work culture.
- Capability to work extended hours and overtime, including up to 60 hours per week during peak periods.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying tools and materials, and standing for extended periods.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with conveyor systems, mechanical assembly, or similar industrial equipment installation is highly preferred.
- Forklift experience and licensing are a strong asset; approximately one in every three workers on the team must hold a valid forklift license.
- Experience operating aerial work platforms (AWP), such as boom lifts or scissor lifts, is a strong asset.
- Certification for scissor lift operation is required for all workers prior to starting on site.
- Background in millwright work or welding is considered an advantage for handling mechanical and structural installation tasks.
- Comfort reading basic measurements and using measuring tools (tape measures, levels, squares) to achieve precise installations.
- Ability to bring and effectively use a personal tool set that meets the minimum standard required for the project, including socket sets, wrench sets, screwdrivers, hammers, rubber mallets, levels, squares, pry bars, adjustable wrenches, measuring tapes, allen keys, and drifts.
- Demonstrated reliability and commitment to completing long-term projects from start to finish.
- Willingness to transition to future projects or longer-term opportunities based on performance and project needs.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, active distribution facility operating as a heavy-duty construction site. The standard schedule runs from approximately 06:30 to 16:30, Monday to Saturday, with the potential for additional hours and up to 60 hours per week during peak periods, often structured as five 12-hour shifts. Work takes place both on the ground and at heights, including on platforms and scissor lifts, with some team members operating forklifts as required. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with ongoing construction activities and strict safety protocols. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn at all times, and all work must be carried out in accordance with site safety rules. Team members are expected to bring and use their own tools that meet the minimum required tool list, including socket sets (7/16" to 3/4"), wrench sets (7/16" to 3/4"), screwdriver sets, hammers, rubber mallets, 6" torpedo levels, squares, small pry bars, 10" and 12" adjustable wrenches, imperial measuring tapes, allen key sets, and drifts.
