Job Title: Forklift Operator (Afternoon)Job DescriptionAs a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for efficiently off-loading and on-loading goods from containers using a propane sit-down counterbalance forklift. The role requires operating the forklift approximately 80% of the shift, ensuring quick yet safe maneuvering through tight quarters. You will handle a variety of freight, which can be heavy and irregularly shaped, necessitating prior experience. Utilizing paper shipping documents initially and transitioning to complex digital shipping software, you will ensure accurate loading and unloading of products.
Responsibilities
- Off-load and on-load goods from containers using a propane sit-down counterbalance forklift.
- Operate the forklift safely and efficiently around tight quarters for 80% of the shift.
- Handle various types of freight, including heavy and irregularly shaped items.
- Ensure correct loading and unloading using paper shipping documents and digital software.
- Navigate tight corners in an open facility.
- Manage shipments ranging from small to large sizes.
Essential Skills- Minimum 1 year experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift in a 3PL or LTL environment.
- Valid forklift certification.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Reliable transportation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- 2-5 years experience in LTL.
- Leadership experience.
- Experience with Truckmate software.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Proficient in English communication.

Work Environment

Products are staged on a dock with over 50 doors, handling items ranging from fridges to tires. The dock can be cold, so layering is advisable. The team comprises approximately 50 operators per shift. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, which can be personal or provided on-site. The afternoon shift operates from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
