ENWIN Utilities Ltd., is currently accepting applications for the vacant position of
Geomatics Technician
(Hourly Rate $28.44 - $35.55)
Location: Windsor, ON
Reporting to the Manager Geomatics, the successful applicant will be responsible for producing and maintaining asset drawings pertaining to our hydro and water infrastructure including traffic control plans while also ensuring that the appropriate asset information is entered into our company database systems. The duties include but are not limited to creating construction, as-built and supporting standard drawings as well as system operating diagrams; accumulating all available map information and creating project base maps following standards; identifying any issues during drawing development; updating and maintaining record maps to reflect future projects and the as-built state of hydro and water distribution systems; data and asset entry into the GIS system, AutoCAD as well as SAP, MeterSense and other databases as required; obtaining and processing relevant GPS data as required; providing requested infrastructure mapping to internal customers and outside contractors when requested; field work including confirmation of information, field mark ups.
The hours of work for this position are 7:30am – 4:00pm.
The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications:
- Architectural, Civil, Mechanical Technician diploma from a recognized Community College, recognized OACETT Certified Technician designation or GIS equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of similar or related experience.
- Fluent in the use of AutoCAD Map 3D/AutoCAD and Microsoft Office 365.
- Working knowledge of GIS systems (ESRI and ArcFM software)
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems considered an asset.
- Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings.
- Knowledge of utility standards and specs, surveying standards, and procedures using GPS.
- Knowledge of standard drafting practices and concepts in Civil, Electrical or Architectural fields.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other departments, and the public.
- Knowledge of relevant government acts and regulations.
- Demonstrated attention to detail with strong problem solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.
