The Opportunity :

WSP Global seeks to hire a Manager, Global External Communications. Reporting to the Global Director, Communications and Public Relations, the successful candidate will actively contribute to the direction and implementation of global external communications initiatives to achieve and maintain visibility for the company among the stakeholders it serves.

In a fast-paced organizational context, where creativity and innovation are encouraged, you will be a key player in defining the WSP signature in communications by creating strategies and fit-for-purpose communications plans that drive business results and a strong culture of teamwork and inclusivity.

The person in this position will work in hybrid mode with a minimum of three days in our Montréal office .

WeAre WSP

What you can expect to do here :

  • Develop and support the implementation of global external communication strategies and plans that align with WSP's brand, values, and business objectives.
  • Lead the external component of major corporate communications projects and initiatives, including the Annual Report and ESG Report campaigns.
  • Proactively manage the external communications calendar and oversee the global website content (corporate section).
  • Establish constructive and trusting relationships with stakeholders, including partnering with the ESG team to promote our sustainability story and performance.
  • Work closely with the other global teams (Internal Communications, Social Media, Brand Management and Marketing, and Digital Experience) as well as regional teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment.
  • Craft compelling external communication materials, including press releases, articles, key messages, presentations, and multimedia content.
  • Support corporate financial communications, media relations, social media, events and crisis management activities, as needed.
  • Supervise and manage a team of professionals and support their professional development.
  • Ensure quality communications that are consistently delivered on time and on brand, with clear and accurate messaging.
  • Evaluate the performance and impact of external communications and current practices and processes and establish mechanisms for their continual improvement.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in external communications to ensure that our approach remains relevant and engaging.
  • Support the Internal Communications team by occasionally conducting internal communications campaigns, as needed.
  • What you'll bring to WSP :

  • Proven communications professional with 10+ years of experience in Communications, including a minimum of three years spent managing a team. Experience within a listed company would be an asset.
  • Solid experience in the development of external communications programs.
  • Superior professional French and English language skills, written and spoken.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced role, proven ability to be hands-on and strategic, and perform in a constantly changing environment.
  • University degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and senior management, with a client-oriented, agile and solution-focused approach.
  • Demonstrated copywriting and editing capabilities with a keen ability to synthesize complex business matters.
  • Motivated by teamwork, collaboration, and the achievement of concrete results.
  • High level of professionalism, rigour, and ethics in all activities and interactions.
