Job Title: Intermediate and Electrical Power Systems Engineer
Job Description
Join a growing hardware engineering team focused on designing and developing next-generation AC/DC and DC/DC power supply solutions for high-demand data centre and telecom applications. You will contribute to reliable, high-performance electrical power systems that meet complex regulatory and customer requirements while working under tight timelines. Intermediate engineers will own significant design and validation tasks, while Sr engineers will additionally lead multiple programs and provide technical mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical power systems, including AC power conversion solutions such as 400V DC and 800V DC systems for data centre and telecom applications.
- Translate customer, regulatory, and system-level requirements into robust, manufacturable hardware designs.
- Perform detailed hardware and PCB design, including schematic capture and PCB layout for power electronics and mixed-signal circuits.
- Develop, validate, and optimize AC/DC and DC/DC power supply solutions to meet performance, reliability, and efficiency targets.
- Conduct testing, fault simulation, and performance evaluation of power systems using appropriate lab equipment and tools.
- Troubleshoot, bring up, and debug new hardware designs, resolving issues identified during testing and validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet aggressive delivery timelines and support high-volume production demands.
- Support compliance with diverse data centre and telecom customer standards, ensuring designs align with applicable regulations and specifications.
- Document design decisions, test results, and design changes to maintain clear and traceable engineering records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and methodologies within the hardware platform team.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including other engineers, product teams, and operations, to align on requirements and priorities.
- Sr-level engineers: lead product development efforts across multiple programs from concept through release.
- Sr-level engineers: provide technical leadership across approximately four active programs while supporting additional ramping projects.
- Sr-level engineers: mentor and guide junior and intermediate engineers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Sr-level engineers: drive key design decisions and oversee system-level architecture for complex power platforms.
- Sr-level engineers: manage competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, ensuring milestones and quality targets are met.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Professional experience in electrical power system design within one or more of the following industries: telecommunications, automotive, industrial systems, or avionics.
- Hands-on experience developing power supplies or data centre power systems, including AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion solutions.
- Strong hardware design skills, including analog and digital circuit design for power electronics.
- Proven PCB design and layout experience for power and mixed-signal hardware.
- Experience with power electronics design, including AC/DC and DC/DC topologies and power supply architectures.
- Ability to take high-level requirements and translate them into effective, detailed design solutions.
- Strong decision-making skills and sense of ownership over design work from concept through validation.
- Comfort working in fast-paced environments with tight timelines and evolving requirements.
- Hands-on approach to testing, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with or developing solutions for data centre power systems or power supply companies.
- Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium or similar electronic design automation software.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as Ansys or equivalent for power and thermal analysis.
- Experience in motor control, FPGA-based systems, or digital control of power electronics.
- Experience with hardware design for high-speed networking or telecommunications equipment.
- Exposure to compliance and certification processes for telecom, data centre, automotive, industrial, or avionics power systems.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers (especially for Sr-level roles).
- Experience leading multi-program development efforts and coordinating across multiple stakeholders (for Sr-level roles).
Work Environment
You will work as part of a hardware team specializing in power electronics for high-speed networking and data centre infrastructure. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, with aggressive delivery timelines driven by global fiber-optic and cloud networking projects. Engineers collaborate closely across disciplines, using modern hardware design, PCB layout, and simulation tools, along with lab equipment for testing, fault simulation, and validation of power systems. The role emphasizes hands-on work with hardware prototypes, iterative design improvements, and close alignment with customer and regulatory requirements in a professional engineering setting.
