Job description
The Board of Education of the Light of Christ Catholic School Division No. 16invites applications for the position ofAmerican Sign Language (ASL) - EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT at Notre Dame Elementary School in North Battleford, SK.This is a temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) position commencing August 28, 2026 and terminating on June 25, 2027.For details contact Caralynn Gidych, Superintendent of Learning at 306-445-6158, c.gidych@loccsd.ca.QualificationsPreference will be given to practicing Catholics Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)A Grade 12 diploma from a provincially recognized institutionOne year of post-secondary training in a program such as Early Childhood Development, Teacher Assistant, Youth Worker or Rehabilitation Worker or equivalent post-secondary education in a related area from a provincially recognized institution is considered to be a strong asset.Educational Assistants shall possess knowledge that is basic to this occupation. Required areas of knowledge include: cultural awareness, interpersonal communication, supporting instruction, family dynamics, health, roles and responsibilities of an educational assistant and their relationship with teachers and other professionals, behaviour theories and their use in managing behaviour, basic care skills, self-protection strategies, understanding individuals with exceptionalities.A valid driver’s licenseProficient with technologyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsBe able to work independently and take initiative within the scope of authority delegated Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with classroom teachers in providing individual and group assistanceImplement strategies and techniques and assist with general classroom management in accordance with school guidelinesConduct oneself in a manner appropriate to a Catholic educational institute that provides service to children, dealing tactfully with staff, students, parents and the public in a manner that is respectful of Catholic morals and valuesPromote an atmosphere of respect for children and adultsCollaborate and work with volunteers and staff, participating in other duties and special projects as assignedCompliance with Ministry of Education and Justice confidentiality standardsApplications must include a cover letter, resume, an up-to-date criminal record check (within the last 6 months) and your three most recent professional references (include an email address for each reference).
