Job Description
The Production Associate plays a key role in food manufacturing by preparing and handling dough mixtures, supporting production line operations, and assisting across multiple departments as needed. This position involves consistent heavy lifting, working with mixing machinery, and performing repetitive tasks while standing or walking for most of the shift in a cold, fast-paced environment on the quiche production line.
Responsibilities
- Mix and prepare dough mixtures, including lifting and handling ingredient bags weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Roll out spindles of dough to the correct thickness according to production requirements and product specifications.
- Roll dough onto spindles and transport them to line operators, regularly lifting and moving items weighing 40–50 pounds.
- Support production line activities on the quiche line, ensuring consistent output and adherence to food manufacturing standards.
- Work in a repetitive manner while maintaining accuracy, quality, and efficiency throughout the shift.
- Stand and walk for 8–9 hours per day while performing production and general labor tasks.
- Operate and work around dough mixing machinery and other food manufacturing equipment safely and correctly.
- Assist as a floater by helping out in other areas and departments as required and by participating in cross-training opportunities.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including removing jewelry and adhering to hygiene and safety protocols.
- Work comfortably in a cold, refrigerated production environment with flour dust in the air, tight corners, and loud machinery.
- Handle and work with meat products and various ingredients such as milk and wheat while following food safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with production team members and line operators to maintain a fast-paced workflow and meet production targets.
- Comply with shift scheduling needs, including openness to afternoon shifts and potential day-shift training prior to assignment.
Essential Skills
- Experience in food manufacturing or food production environments.
- Ability to perform general labor and production line work in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfort with repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail and product quality.
- Capability to stand and walk continuously for 8–9 hours per shift.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items, including ingredient bags and dough spindles weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Experience working with dough and mixing machinery in a food manufacturing context.
- Comfort working in a cold environment that feels similar to a refrigerator.
- Willingness to work with meat products and various food ingredients, including milk and wheat.
- Ability to work safely in cramped spaces with tight corners and loud machinery.
- Willingness to remove all jewelry in compliance with GMP regulations.
- Flexibility to work any assigned afternoon shift and to complete day-shift training when required.
- Reliability in attending shifts despite the lack of public transit options after afternoon shifts.

Work Environment
The role is based on the quiche production line within a facility that combines office space and production areas. The production environment is cold, maintained at approximately 15–20 degrees depending on the season and kept at refrigerator-like temperatures due to meat storage requirements. The area is fast paced, cramped with tight corners, and has flour dust in the air, with loud noise levels near the machinery and no windows. Production staff must wear lab coats, hairnets, safety shoes, and ear plugs in accordance with GMP and safety regulations, and all jewelry must be removed. Shifts are primarily in the day shift.
