Job description

Construction Contract Administrator

Architecture, Design & Planning Firm
Location: Remote – Anywhere in Canada
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Model: 100% Remote

Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa

THE OPPORTUNITY

A highly respected architecture and design practice is expanding its project delivery team and is looking for an experienced Construction Contract Administrator to join its growing Canadian operation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned construction administration professional who enjoys being involved in the delivery side of architecture and wants to contribute to large-scale, technically complex projects across a range of sectors.

The successful candidate will bring strong construction administration experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with architects, consultants, contractors and clients. This position is fully remote and is open to qualified candidates anywhere in Canada.

THE ROLE

You will play an integral role in supporting projects through the construction phase, helping ensure documentation, communication, quality and contractual requirements are effectively managed from tender through completion.

Working alongside architects, project managers and multidisciplinary project teams, you will help deliver complex projects while bringing your own expertise to the construction administration process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting construction contract administration activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals and other construction documentation.
  • Conducting site reviews and documenting construction progress, deficiencies and outstanding work.
  • Preparing field reports, meeting minutes, site documentation and project correspondence.
  • Managing and responding to RFIs, change requests, site instructions and other construction-related communications.
  • Assisting with tender documentation, contract documents and project manuals.
  • Coordinating information between consultants, contractors, clients and internal project teams.
  • Maintaining accurate and organized contract administration and project records.
  • Reviewing change orders, payment applications and other contract-related documentation.
  • Identifying construction issues and coordinating appropriate follow-up with project stakeholders.
  • Supporting deficiency reviews, project completion and closeout activities.
  • Working closely with architects and project managers to maintain project schedules, quality and contractual requirements.
  • Contributing to a collaborative national team while managing priorities independently in a remote environment.

WHAT'S REQUIRED

  • 8+ years of professional experience within architecture, engineering, construction or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience working in construction contract administration within an architecture practice.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale, complex or technically demanding projects.
  • Experience with public, institutional, commercial, mixed-use, residential, healthcare, education or other major project types.
  • Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Technology or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawings, specifications, construction documentation and building processes.
  • Solid knowledge of construction contracts and administration procedures; experience with CCDC contracts is an asset.
  • Strong experience reviewing RFIs, shop drawings, change documentation, site reports and other construction administration deliverables.
  • Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD for drawing review and coordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation and time-management abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities within a fully remote environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with architects, consultants, contractors and clients.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN

  • 100% remote work — work from anywhere in Canada.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile, large-scale and complex architectural projects.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of sectors and project types.
  • Collaboration with experienced architects, designers and project professionals across Canada.
  • Flexible and progressive work environment built around autonomy, trust and professional development.
  • Long-term career growth with an established and respected architecture and design practice.

WHAT TO DO NOW

If you are an experienced Construction Contract Administrator or Architectural Technologist with a strong architecture background and extensive CA experience, this is an excellent opportunity to take on challenging projects while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote position.

Please submit your resume for confidential consideration to Laura Shalev at lshalev@talentsphere.ca.
