MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager for a permanent role with a client of ours located in Vancouver.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the execution and delivery of key projects, ensuring your team produces high-quality, scalable, and robust software solutions
- Balance your time between managing people, driving technical excellence, and making direct contributions to the codebase
- Passionate about building strong teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, and is comfortable navigating the challenges of a fast-paced startup environment
Requirements: - 8+ years of professional experience.
- 3+ years of proven success leading engineering teams of 4–8 members.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale technical initiatives and take ownership of key product or platform components.
- Advanced proficiency with Java (version 17 or higher), Spring, and building applications using microservices architecture.
- Strong working knowledge of both relational databases (Postgres) and NoSQL solutions (MongoDB).
- Practical experience with messaging and event-driven systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
- Solid background in cloud environments (AWS), along with containerization (Docker) and orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes).
- Skilled communicator with the ability to partner effectively with product leaders, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Passionate about leadership, with a focus on mentoring, career development, and team growth.
