Job description
What if you could redefine what's possible?

With us, you can. You want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it.
We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers.
With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science-based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions.
We are pathfinders and impact makers.
We are Visioneers.
We are WSP.

The Opportunity

Your impact starts here.

Based in Vancouver, this role is part of WSP's Water & Wastewater Infrastructure practice, where electrical engineering plays a critical role in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable systems for communities. As an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT), you will support the design and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects that shape how water is treated, conveyed, and managed.

Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on exposure across the full project lifecycle-from concept and detailed design through construction and commissioning-while building the technical foundation for your professional engineering career.

This opportunity is open to current residents of the Vancouver area. No relocation or remote work will be considered.

Your Impact
  • Support electrical, instrumentation, and controls (EIC) design for water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants and pumping stations
  • Contribute to designs for power distribution, lighting, PLCs, communications, and control systems
  • Assist with preparation of drawings, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and presentations
  • Support tender submissions, contractor submittal reviews, and shop drawing evaluations
  • Participate in field reviews and site inspections under the supervision of a Professional Engineer
  • Contribute to commissioning activities to ensure systems perform safely and as intended
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality designs

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC).
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
  • 2+ years of professional experience in electrical or EIC system design, preferably within municipal water or wastewater projects; preferably within large engineering consulting firms.
  • Metro Vancouver projects experience would be an additional asset.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, PLCs, communications, and P&IDs
  • Exposure to municipal infrastructure projects or regulated environments is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, sound time-management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
